Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas 2011 & beyond from Horsepower & Teki Latex presented by Secure Recordings, Brooklyn Fire, Sound Pellegrino & House of Sound

Horsepower is the union of Bart B More, Tommie Sunshine & RipTide.

Please follow us on http://www.Twitter.com/HORSEPOWERPOWER

After many collaborations together, a friendship born of YouTube videos & old Rave stories made it obvious it was time to expand to a full blown project.
With an album in the works, the idea of a Christmas track got bounced around as summer ended.
When the track was finished it was clear it needed the almighty Teki Latex on vocals.
What you hear is a labor of love from all four of us, to you.

Interview TAI

Our Secure Recordings Amsterdam Dance Event party is just around the corner.

On Thursday Club Up in Amsterdam will be the stage where we showcase some of the artists that put out music on our label. These artists include Tommie Sunshine, Harvard Bass, RipTide and our German buddy TAI who’s most known for producing big records like ‘ION’ and ‘Lyposuct’ (alongside DIM) signed to Boysnoize Records.

Having produced gold albums for German rappers in the past he found a new high in electronic dance music and has been traveling the world dj’ing ever since.

Bart asked him a few questions to see what’s up

BBM: Hello mate, how are you? Sorry to fire these questions at you right after the octoberfest, you might still be recovering. Where are you right now and what’s happening?

TAI: Ha ha, i am in a type of Oktoberfest-Rehab, recovering right now :-) That’s what I get for blocking these two weeks from dj gigs just to go pour mugs and more mugs of strong beer in my face :-)

I am in Germany, finishing off my next EP, “At The Disco”. It drops January 27th. It’ll be a 2-track EP with A-side: “At The Disco” and B-side: Omnicrack

BBM: Nice so you’ve been keeping busy! How was octoberfest? Do you own a pair of lederhosen?

TAI: Actually my Bavarian friends were so ashamed that I still don’t have a pair, so they bought me my first one this year… With the hat with the feather in it, ha haa….

I met some English fans that went crazy because they couldn’t believe I was at the Oktoberfest. Big up to them Tommies.

BBM: Next year I’ll be there! So tell me, how do Germans really feel about their dutch neighbors?

TAI: Ha ha, the Germans love the Dutch because you keep supplying the sticky icky, green, haze, ‘erb, ganja, purple, mary j :-)

I’m always amazed at how tall you Dutch are. Sometimes when I’m at your house I stand in the open window watching the tall Dutch people speed by on their even taller bicycles with 30 km/h. That’s my high, he he :-)

BBM: Yeah Harvard Bass was talking about the bikes too, it seems to impress you guys ;) Anyway, I’m really happy we have you playing our Secure recordings meets House of Sound labelnight during Amsterdam Dance Event on the 20th of October. To those few who don’t know you yet, who is TAI?

TAI: This should do the job:

http://www.facebook.com/therealtai

http://twitter.com/THEREALTAI

http://soundcloud.com/therealtai

… He he, just kidding…. Hmmm, well maybe I’m not kidding :-) It’s difficult to explain yourself in a way, know what I mean?!! YOU say something about me please Bart!?!

BBM: I’m interviewing you remember? Haha But all right I’ll give it a go: a Munich, Germany based super friendly fun-loving music enthusiast known for making big electro/techno records with big drops. How’s that?

TAI: Not bad!

BBM: Can you explain to people why we have a track on the way that’s called ‘Nobody Canna Cross It (Di Bus Can Swim)’ ?

TAI: Ha ha, it’s hilarious. we sampled the dramatic interview of this Jamaican construction worker dude who’s bridge across the river broke down. So now nobody canna cross it!!!… sad… but also funny :-)

here is our teaser to the track:

we should be able to release it in November!?! :-)

BBM: Yes we’re aiming for November. Hope everything goes according to plan!
A lot of people also know you from the tracks you made with DIM. ‘Lyposuct’ and recently ‘ION’ were all huge tracks. How did these collaborations come together?

TAI: Well we sat in the studio together and Lyposuct was the first track we did together really. Boys Noize signed it and I didn’t even know what Boys Noize was back then because this was my first Electro track. I remember playing that bassline as if it were today :-)

BBM: Yeah sometimes I forget you’re fairly new to electronic dance music. Your tracks sound like you’ve been doing this sound for a long time, but actually for many many years you topped the German and surrounding countries charts as a hip hop producer producing mostly German acts and then a few years ago you found a new love for techno/electronic music.

Having had all the success as a hip hop producer in Germany how did it feel to get into a whole different scene having to start from scratch?

TAI: Yes, I produced almost every rapper in my home country but I have always loved Elektronic / Techno music!  Actually I produced Tomcraft’s album 7 years ago as well as several remixes for Coburn’s, “We Interrupt This Program or Mason’s “Exceeder” just to mention some, which was Electronic.

It is very refreshing for me to release records in my own name after having produced artists for the last 10 years. People that know me from my Hip Hop music think it is insane of me because I went from gold selling top 10 albums to underground club music… But I think my Hip Hop music which started out underground just got to big for me. I wanted something undergroundy again.

BBM: How is this scene different from the hip hop scene?

TAI: People are very kind and open in the elektronic world which is super cool. the hip hop dudes I produce had to let me into their trust world before we hung out and worked together which took years! In Rap music you can kinda do what the hell you like. For example sample who and what u like. That’s cool. There is not such a “style police” like in underground Elektro.
That’s what my buddy Laidback Luke keeps preaching about on twitter. He is totally right!
At the end of the day it’s music!

BBM: Seeing you switched styles before. Is there any music you’ve always wanted to make but never did?

TAI: No, if there is then I make it :-)

BBM: What’s coming out of the TAI studio in the near future?

TAI: After my At The Disco EP on Dim Mak I will release another EP. And then my album, which i am suuuper anxious about because it will be my first and i have been working on it since 3 years…. holy moly I only just realized how long that is right now! :-)

BBM: Thanks mate, can’t wait till the 20th! See you then!!!

TAI: YEEEEHAAAA. Same goes for me my blond buddy.

Interview Harvard Bass

When it hits October in Amsterdam and the leafs are starting to fall from the trees, everyone gets excited because everyone knows Amsterdam Dance Event is approaching very very soon. As part of this event Secure Recordings (teaming up with House of Sound and drie keer niks) will be showcasing some of their finest artists on the label. First up is young American Victor Ramos better known as Harvard Bass.

This guy has been producing some of the finest house and techno music for years and has remixed some of the biggest players in electronic dance music like Zombie Nation, Digitalism and Drop The Lime gaining support from almost every dj you would like to see if you like the stuff that we put out. Saying he’s a good friend of the label would be an understatement seeing the amount of records he and Secure headhoncho Bart B More have been cooking up. From the highly anticipated ‘Listen To This’  to the recent ‘The Ones’ EP released by yours truly (Buy it here on Beatport)

Bart asked him a few questions.

BBM: It’s kinda weird to ask a few questions to a friend but I wanted to introduce you to the ADE attendees that might not have heard of you yet…. so first of all could you please introduce yourself?

HB: HELLO! My name is Harvard Bass and I create sounds that makes people dance and groove. Those sound are either house, techno or some electro.

BBM: Good, so now everyone knows. You’ve been travelling the world dj’ing. Where are you right now and what are you doing?

HB: I am currently at the airport in Sydney headed to Adelaide for my last and final show of the Parklife tour.

BBM: Niiice, it’s raining here in Holland, I hope you’re enjoying the ozzie summer over there!
You recently released a track with Green Velvet called ‘Techyes’. You worked on this together in his studio in Chicago. What’s it like to work with one of the biggest producers in techno music?

HB: Man! its like a big dream come to life! It freaked me out to even think he was a fan of mine. I looked up to him since the beginning. To be honest, i was so nervous going in to the studio with him in chicago but once we started working its like all the nerves went away. We had so much fun working together especially when i was able to use all his hardware! Its like synth heaven in his studio!

BBM: That sounds awesome, he’s one of my heroes too! Green Velvet has been making quality techno music for years, you’re one of the few young generation Americans that’s blowing up in techno music. How’s techno doing in America? Do you think this scene will grow in the future?

HB: It actually has been growing a bit more here in america which is a good thing!

BBM: You’ve been to Holland. I was even able to show you around a bit. What do you think about our small little country? What’s your favorite thing about Holland?

HB: I absolutely love the red light district i like to spend days there! HAHA NO NO I AM TOTALLY JOKING! but really my favorite thing about Holland is the people and I love that riding bikes to clubs is a daily routine.

BBM: Oh yea we love our bikes! You’re not really dutch if you don’t own one
Anyway, we’re all very excited to have you play our labelnight on the 20th of october, your official debut at the Amsterdam Dance Event. How do you feel about playing ADE?

HB: I’m super excited! I have never played it! It’s my first time!

BBM: You’ll love it! Being a first-timer do you have any idea what the conference is like? Did you hear stories?

HB: I just hear its like the dutch version of WMC and you have said that it goes off!

BBM: True, minus the palmtrees and nice weather. Speaking of palmtrees… you took me to Tijuana for a day where we also shot the funky one video. I had the best time ever!! Having mexican blood what does Tijuana mean to you? Do you visit Mexico a lot?

HB: Tijuana to me means LIFE. I first learned about house music in Tijuana when I went to see a Mark Farina dj set when i was 16 and my parents first met in Tijuana so without Tijuana, (and of course the other things that help make babies) there would be no Harvard Bass. I Actually used to live in Tijuana for about 6 years after i was born and i would always come back and forth from the US since my mom used to work in Mexico during my teens.
I visit Mexico to get a haircut, hang out with friends, or watch futbol games.
Mexico is literally 10 minutes from my house so sometimes i even go buy tacos and come right back.

BBM: Tijuana street taco’s are the best! Ok last one. Is there any new Harvard Bass stuff we’re going to hear when you play the Secure party?

HB: YES! Plenty! including some remixes too so do not miss out on da partay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BBM: You heard the man, you can hear all his new stuff plus more at club UP on the 20th of October.
Thanks for answering these questions man, can’t wait to see you.. it’s going to be pari taim for sure!

HB: OHHH YEEEE im so stoked!!
